During the course of our casework over the past four years, a number of important legal issues have arisen in multiple cases brought on behalf of Service Personnel (SP).
The Centre for Military Justice believes that the best way to address some of the serial injustices we see within the services is to support SP to exercise their basic legal rights and to improve those rights in the ways proposed in the short briefing note below.
The Armed Forces Act 2026 may present an opportunity to do this, although if the new Government is proposing wide-ranging employment law reforms, that too may present an opportunity for the incoming Government to address some of these issues.
