Inquest into the death of Gnr Jaysley Beck to open on Monday 10th February 2025

06th Feb 2025

The inquest into the death of teenager, Gunner Jaysley Beck, opens at Salisbury Coroner’s Court, 26 Endless Street, SP1 1DP, on Monday 10th February 2025, before Coroner Nicholas Rheinberg.  The inquest is scheduled to run until Thursday 20th February 2025.

In 2023, an internal Army report found that Jaysley had suffered relentless sexual harassment before she died.

The family will not be giving any interviews prior to the inquest. However, Jaysley’s mother Leighann McCready has said: ‘Our family hope that the Coroner will conduct a thorough and fearless investigation in to the circumstances in which we lost our daughter and in particular that he will want to consider the impact on her of the deeply unacceptable behaviours and negative aspects of the Army culture we fear she suffered before she died. We love and miss Jaysley every day and do not want any other family ever to have to go through this.’

The family is legally represented by solicitor Emma Norton, acting in this case as consultant solicitor for Hodge, Jones & Allen Solicitors, barrister Alison Gerry of Doughty Street Chambers and are supported by the CMJ.
